A few checks provide a useful reset

The start of a new year is a good time to review available updates, unused plugins, user accounts and the current state of backups. It is also worth checking the PHP version and any recurring application errors.

Maintenance does not always need to become a large project. Removing unnecessary extensions, applying updates and confirming that a recent working backup exists can eliminate several common sources of risk.
